As one half of British noise duo Fuck Buttons, Benjamin John Power has been responsible for some of the most confrontational and excoriating experimental music in recent memory. However, under his Blanck Mass solo moniker, he’s now released more albums by himself than as part of his parent band. With this year’s Animated Violence Mildcarrying on his rich vein of form, Power brings the project’s mesmerising live show to Headrow House on Sunday night. Wear earplugs! (TICKETS)

Well done if you managed to snaffle tickets for this one – following a breathtakingly successful three-or-so years that’s seen them release two critically acclaimed albums, including Mercury-nominated second LP Joy As An Act Of Resistancelast year, and a Glastonbury-slaying performance in the summer, IDLES are completing a well-earned victory lap around the UK this winter, but one that also promises some new music. Expect the atmosphere at the O2 Academy to be fervent, to say the least.

Primal Scream @ O2 Academy Leeds, Friday 6th December

Ever since they started nearly four decades ago, Primal Scream have always been an odd band, responsible for some of the most cutting-edge music of the Nineties and Noughties (Screamadelica and XTRMNTR, respectively) but also some of the most good-time, homely and functional (‘Rocks’, ‘Country Girl’). 2019 has seen them look back across their career with two career-spanning singles compilations titled Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll, and the corresponding tour comes to Leeds’ O2 Academy on Friday night. (TICKETS)
