PREVIEW: Gigs of the Week in Leeds, 4th-10th November

Ah, autumn. The end of the festival season is truly upon us and the summer feels like a very long time ago. But although the temperature’s plummeting, the quantity of quality acts playing is rising; whether it be folk (Lucy Rose), indie-pop (Julia Jacklin), grime (Wiley), West Yorkshire has it all in the next week with so many great acts.

Let’s get to it as we highlight the three top gigs this week – Saturday November 4th to Friday November 10th.

Shopping @ Wharf Chambers, Tuesday November 7th

London trio Shopping have been wowing us since their formative stepping’s into the post-punk scene, with 2015’s Why Choose? being one of our favourite records of the year. With a third album, title The Official Body, coming in January, what better time to reminisce about all that has come before, whilst getting a sneaky peak into what to expect in the new year?

Gordi @ Headrow House, Tuesday November 7th

Post-punk not your thing? Then why not go and see the fabulous folktronica stylings of Gordi? The Australian, who has already garnered the support of Bon Iver, released her debut album Reservoir in August which proved to be a delightful affair and will surely be towards the top of many end-of-year come December. Head down to the intimate Headrow House and enjoy the delightfully delicate and gorgeously grandiose vocal range that Gordi possesses.

Kagoule + Catholic Action @ Headrow House, Tuesday November 8th

Enjoyed your night at Headrow House watching Gordi? Well, why not head back there and go and see Nottinghamshire DIY band Kagoule. With 2015’s debut album Urth under their belts, they’ve have been making some noise in the UK with their grunge-meets-punk-meets-shoegaze stylings and on the back of a rambunctious showing at the 100 Club in London, they’re sure to bring an element of chaos to the humble surroundings. As if that weren’t enough, Catholic Action are in support, with a great debut album In Memory Of recently released!
