Drake’s Scorpion Is The Lowest Selling No. 1 Album In 27 Years

After releasing Scorpion, Drake has become the biggest artist in the history of both Spotify and Apple Music. Since the 29th of June, he gained over 10bn streams on Apple Music and over 13bn on Spotify, generating a royalty payout of more than $115 million.

Drake has also managed to break yet another record – his newest album has officially become the lowest selling no. 1 debut since Nielsen started tracking record sales in 1991. In the United States, only 29,000 copies of Scorpion were sold, while in the UK just over 6,500 copies were sold, as of 13th of July.

This marks an overall shift in the industry – album sales are down 17% in comparison to the same period in 2017, while digital downloads alone are down 21%.  

Oneohtrix Point Never Share New Videos

Daniel Lopatin shared two new videos, to his OPN songs ‘The Station’ and ‘We’ll Take It’. Both tracks come from the album Age Of which came out in June. The two videos preview a new EP which is set to come out on the 27th of July. Watch the videos below:

Pond Share New Song And Announce Tour

Pond have shared a new song titled ‘Burnt Out Star,’ a follow up to their 2017 album The Weather. The band has also announced a fall North American tour, which starts on the 12th October at Desert Daze in California. Listen to ‘Burnt Out Star’ below:

Arctic Monkeys Share New Video

Arctic Monkeys released a new video to the title track of their latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, following their first single, ‘Four Out Of Five.’ The video was directed by Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell and was filmed in Nevada in the United States. Arctic Monkeys are currently on the North American leg of the tour supporting their newest album.

New Tame Impala Album To Come Out In 2019

Kevin Parker hinted that a new Tame Impala album should be released by the summer of 2019. While giving an interview on Beats 1 Parker said: “I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t have something out by then.” Currents, the latest Tame Impala album appeared in 2015.
