Black Lips @ Brudenell Social Club, Sunday 10th November
Marking the 20th anniversary of their formation in 2019, and with their ninth studio album Sing In A World That’s Falling Apart out in January, Atlantan garage-rock veterans Black Lips bring their famously riotous live act to Leeds on their latest tour. (TICKETS)
Metronomy @ O2 Academy Leeds, Monday 11th November
Indie favourites and a huge live draw for over a decade now, Joe Mount and Metronomy bring their current British tour to Leeds to kick off the week. Their sixth studio album Metronomy Foreverwas released a couple of months back, fronted by a couple of their strongest and most accessible singles in recent memory in the shape of ‘Lately’ and ‘Salted Caramel Ice Cream’. Making this evening doubly appealing is the presence of excellent indie-punk newcomers Squid in the support slot, who’ve been heavily played on BBC Radio 6Music throughout 2019 and released their latest EP Town Centrethis summer. (TICKETS)
Kate Tempest @ Belgrave Music Hall, Tuesday 12th November
To call Kate Tempest exclusively either a spoken-word artist or a rapper seems to not quite do justice to what she does. Currently touring her newest fourth album The Book Of Traps And Lessons, she brings her sharp, socially conscious artistry to the cosy environs of the Belgrave on Tuesday evening – and in the afternoon for an early show.
Mega Bog @ Hyde Park Book Club, Wednesday 13th November
Mega Bog is a curious moniker for American singer and songwriter Erin Elizabeth Birgy, who brings her compelling and unflinching live energy to the Hyde Park Book Club in the middle of this week. Birgy’s fifth full-length album Dolphinewas released back in the summer – if you’ve not encountered her before, unsurprising as her profile on this side of the Atlantic is still growing, her sound is a modern, American update of English influences ranging from Kate Bush to Laura Marling. (TICKETS)
Lightning Bolt @ Brudenell Social Club, Friday 15th November
Famed for their unusual live performances, which often see them perform off the stage and on the same level as their fans and surrounded by them, American noise rock duo Lightning Bolt come to the Brudenell on Friday night. Incredibly, they’ve now been going for a quarter of a century as a band, with their seventh album Sonic Citadel arriving just a few weeks ago and showing them to be in as great form as ever. (TICKETS)
Mystery Jets @ The Wardrobe, Friday 15th November
Their planned seventh album A Billion Heartbeats may have been delayed from its scheduled September release until the new year, after singer Blaine Harrison was forced to undergo emergency surgery because of a serious infection, but Mystery Jets are not ones to disappoint their fans for long. With a huge arsenal of classic indie hits behind them at this point, their autumn/winter tour of the UK goes ahead, and comes to the Wardrobe in Leeds to begin the weekend. (TICKETS)
