Showcasing the Best New Music, Curating the Classics

PREVIEW: Gigs of the Week in Leeds, September 1st-7th

Iceage @ Brudenell Social Club, Tuesday 4th September

Since forming in 2008, Danish punks Iceage have been quickly gaining popularity beyond the borders of their home country. Beyondless, their fourth album released earlier in 2018, has been one of the band’s most praised and successful releases to date and a record which swept many people of their feet. Iceage’s music is expressive and powerful, carrying a heavy dark power, while their frontman Elias Bender Rønnenfelt is known for his enigmatic presence. In their live performances, Iceage still possess the electrifying youthful edge that they had at the very beginning of their career, which is an important factor contributing to their continued success. You can catch them live at Brudenell Social Club this Tuesday.

David Ramirez @ Brudenell Social Club, Thursday 6th September

Hailing from Houston, Texas, David Ramirez is a soulful singer-songwriter whose lyrics could melt your heart. Initially interested in the alternative rock sound he soon became strongly influenced by some of the best songwriters of the ‘60s and ‘70s, such as Bob Dylan. It led Ramirez to start writing more insightful lyrics and exploring the acoustic music territory. Today, he has four full-length albums under his belt, a catalogue of sultry and emotive songs. Ramirez’s live shows are equally emotional, inflamed by his expressive and powerful voice when he sings about the truth, the good and the bad, and he does it in the most authentic way. He will be performing at Brudenell Social Club this Thursday – make sure to grab your tickets!

Beth Rowley @ Brudenell Social Club, Thursday 6th September

Beth Rowley came back with a new album after being absent from the music scene for ten years. In 2008 she introduced herself to the public as a soulful singer-songwriter, while her comeback record Gota Fría showed Rowley exploring influences such as rock, blues and Americana. A gifted vocalist, equipped with brand new songs, as well as quite a few sentimental old tracks, Beth Rowley is definitely prepared to inspire the crowd at Brudenell Social Club this Thursday night. Make sure not to miss her performance.
