Showcasing the Best New Music, Curating the Classics

PREVIEW: Gigs of the Week in Leeds, 24th-30th November

Yuno @ Headrow House, Sunday 25th November

Yuno is a singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Jacksonville, Florida. After years of releasing music through Soundcloud, Yuno finally signed a deal with Sub Pop and released his first official singles in February – the sweet and vibrant ‘No Going Back’ and the slightly heavier, guitar-driven ‘Why For.’ Yuno’s sound is idiosyncratic, yet he blends pop, rock, hip-hop and R&B in a smooth and effortless way. After listening to Moodie, his newest EP from earlier this year, it becomes clear that Yuno’s emotional and colourful music is exceptional and truly unique. Grab your tickets to see Yuno this Sunday night at Headrow House!

Jessie J @ O2 Academy, Monday 26th November

Jessie J is one of the most talented British, pop vocalists on the scene right now. Throughout her career, she also proved to be a prolific songwriter and a pop-star that creates music on her own, individual terms. Jessie J is a true entertainer whose live performances are powerful, emotional and extremely fun. After a four-year break, she released her newest LP R.O.S.E. earlier this year, an album which brought her back to music and most importantly, to touring. Jesse J is coming to Leeds this Monday, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to hear her live at the O2 Academy!

Jade Bird @ The Wardrobe, Wednesday 28th November

Jade Bird has been named one of the most exciting, emerging artists on the British music scene. She is a prolific songwriter and a confident vocalist, but most of all she’s “just an ordinary 20-year-old girl.” Her influences come from everywhere – she blends classic and contemporary music and spills her thoughts and emotions through her raw and honest lyrics. Bird’s brilliant single ‘Lottery’ has made it to the top of the charts all around the world, proving that she’s most definitely prepared to become the next big name in music. Luckily, Bird is also coming to Leeds this week, so drop by The Wardrobe this Wednesday to hear her play live.

The Interrupters @ Leeds University, Thursday 29th November

The Interrupters are a Los Angeles-based ska-punk band led by the incredibly talented and charismatic Aimee Allen. Recently they released an incredibly successful single ‘She’s Kerosene’ elevating the band to a completely new level. Fight The Good Fight, their most recent album that they released earlier this year, has been received really well too, making The Interrupters a really interesting act to watch and without a doubt an amazing band to see live. Fortunately, the next occasion to do that is this coming Thursday, so come down to the University of Leeds to hear some of their best tunes!
