Showcasing the Best New Music, Curating the Classics

PREVIEW: Gigs of the Week in Leeds, March 10th-16th

Experience the very best live music that Leeds has to offer with our miniature gig guide – here’s the three best gigs going down this week!

Marsicans @ Church, Saturday 10th March

If ever you wanted proof that West Yorkshire can produce brilliance, then it is all on offer on Saturday night. The superb Marsicans, who have received national radio support and validation from Chris Martin, bring their live show to the 700 capacity Church for a night of indie-pop bliss. If that wasn’t enough for you, then there’s also the brilliant The Golden Age Of TV in support offering their shoegaze-infused pop sound.

Lee “Scratch” Perry @ Brudenell Social Club, Monday 12th March

If you’re looking on the other end of the scale, we have the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry at the Brudenell Social Club. The most iconic figure in reggae still living today, Perry brings six decades’ worth of dub, reggae and fun to the stage – and in such an intimate setting it looks set to be one of the more jubilant nights of the calendar. Still releasing music at a scarily frequent rate at the age of 81, Perry continues to delight, so if you fancy a night of the classics you could do worse than to take a trip to the Brudenell Social Club.

The Wave Pictures @ Hyde Park Book Club, Monday 12th March

Are The Wave Pictures the most fun band in folk-rock today? Very possibly… On a more or less constant tour spanning 16 albums in as many years, which has seen the trio perfect their live sound with their series of dance-along hits, they’re are a terrific live outfit and now you can see them play. With plans to release two albums in 2018, the band is set to road-test their new material in some of their most intimate dates in years. Enjoy!
