Gorillaz have announced their new album, Humanz, will be released on April 28. The album will feature 14 tracks with a further 5 more new tracks on the deluxe edition. Britpop rivals Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn’s surprise collaboration for the track, ‘We Got The Power’, is amongst the all-star cast. Other guest contributors are Grace Jones, Carly Simon, Mavis Staples, De La Soul and Pusha T. Gorillaz also performed a secret live gig in Printworks, London, on Friday 24 March. The much anticipated Humanz will be Gorillaz first album in 6 years.
Saint Etienne announced their new album, Home Counties to be released on June 2nd. The British dance outlets haven’t released an album since 2012’s Words And Music By Saint Etienne. The upcoming album was produced by Young Gun Silver Fox’s Shawn lee and will be released through Heavenly Recordings. Saint Etienne also shared the first track from the album, ‘Heather’. They also accompanied the release with a series of UK tour dates for this summer.
Ride announces first new album in two decades, Weather Diaries, to be released on June 16th. The four-piece last released a record in 1996 with Tarantula. The long-awaited follow-up will be released through Wichita Recordings and features production from London DJ Erol Alkan, best known for his work with Franz Ferdinand. The band have also shared two new songs from the album, ‘Charm Assault’ and ‘Home Is A Feeling’. Ride are set to be playing the Manchester International Festival, Latitude Festival and Benicassim all later this summer.
Royal Blood tease second album, due to be released in 2017. The duo are set to release the follow-up to their chart-topping self-titled debut that was released back in 2014. The band posted a video on Twitter on March 27 of them working in a studio. The tweet comes after a previous tease back in December where frontman Mike Kerr released a video of him getting a tattoo of the year ‘2017’, leading to speculation of a much anticipated second album set for release.
Drake’s playlist project More Life will be released physically on CD on March 31st. The collaboration with Apple Music which was released on March 18 broke streaming records with 385 million streams in one week, and 90 million in its first 24 hours. The previous record was Ed Sheeran’s Divide which got 370 million in its first week on Spotify. The 22-song collection will be released on CD on March 31 and on Vinyl at a later date.
Kendrick Lamar teases a possible imminent new album with ‘IV’ sign on his Instagram page. Kendrick Lamar’s latest record, since 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly, is expected as soon as April. The upcoming release would be the rapper’s fourth full-length studio album since his debut Section.80 came out in 2011.
London Grammar announce long-awaited second album Truth Is A Beautiful Thing for June 9th. The follow-up to 2013’s If You Wait has been produced Paul Epworth from Florence + The Machine and Bloc Party. The band performed the title track song for Comic Relief on Friday March 24.
