David Bowie swept up at the 2017 Grammys winning 5 posthumous awards. The rock icon’s 25th studio album, Blackstar, won The Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical album, Best Recording Package and Best Alternative Album and Best Rock Performance for the album’s title track. Blackstar and its title track won every award it was nominated for which gave David Bowie the most wins of any artist on the night. Unbelievably, the music awards are the first Bowie has ever won at the Grammys and they come just over a year after the Starman’s death.

Adele won The Album of The Year at the 2017 Grammys with 25. 25 claimed the win over nominations of records by Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Drake. Adele, in a tearful acceptance speech said about Beyonce, “What the f**k does she have to do to win”, announcing that she thought Lemonade deserved the award.  She went on and called Beyonce “the artist of my life”. The singer-songwriter also picked up three more awards for; Song Of The Year with ‘Hello’, Best Pop Vocal Album for 25 and Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Hello’.

Other highlights from the 59th Grammy awards include; Chance The Rapper winning The Best Rap Album with Coloring Book and he won The Best Newcomer. Beyonce picked up Best Contemporary Album for Lemonade. Notable live performances were Lady Gaga and Metallica performing ‘Moth Into Flame” from Hardwired… to Self-Destruct and Daft Punk and the Weeknd performed ‘Starboy’; one of their collaborative tracks from 2016.

Arcade Fire announce their first major tour since 2014.The European tour will be this summer and starts with previously announced Primavera festival and a headline spot at the Isle of White festival. The three UK and Ireland shows are confirmed to be Belfast (June 13), Dublin (June 14) and Manchester (July 6).
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday February 17th. Arcade Fire released a new single ‘I Gave You Power’ last month and are expected to announce more new music.

Drake says his new project More Life will be finished within “two weeks”. The album will be a playlist collaboration with Apple Music. The Toronto rapper has worked with Apple and already teased with the release of three singles from the collaboration; ‘Fake Love’, ‘Two Birds, One Stone’ and ‘Sneakin’. Drake made the announcement on social media but also to the crowd at his Leeds show (February 9) when he recently toured in the UK.

Beyonce, Jay z and DJ Khaled have released a new song ‘Shining’ together. The surprise release came immediately after the Grammys ceremony last night. The trio joined forces for the single and released it on Tidal on February 12th.

Animal Collective share a new song ‘Kinda Bonkers’, from a new EP titled The Painters. The band played a DJ set in San Francisco (Friday 9) which they used to debut the song. One Redditor who was there streamed it live and it has since been confirmed it will on their forthcoming EP.

Justin Timberlake, John Legend and Lin-Manuel Miranda have been announced to perform live at the 2017 Oscars. The Academy Awards ceremony will be on February 26th and also feature live performances from Sting and Auli’i Crivalho, which Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting.
