Ticket touts are to face unlimited fines under new government plans. The UK government has cracked down on touts that use bots to bulk buy tickets and then resell them at inflated rates. The amendment to the Digital Economy Bill will now make it illegal to use bots on ticketing websites. Gig tickets have been sold at over 10 times the original price on secondary websites.

Local musician Michael Sanders was shot and injured after a show at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. The guitarist for the band Löwin, was shot during an armed robbery at the annual festival. Sanders was returning from A Giant Dog Show on Friday (March 10) night and was shot in the shoulder. His wallet and phone were stolen by three masked men.

Joni Sledge, the singer of Sister Sledge has died at the age of 60. Sledge, a member of the 70s disco act, was most famous for the 1979 hit ‘We Are Family’. Sister Sledge was made up of Jodi and 3 of her sisters.  The cause of death is unknown.

Two rare David Bowie albums are to be released on Record Store Day. The albums, Cracked Actor and Bowpromo1 (1971 demo version) are going to available on vinyl on April 22. The album releases will celebrate the 10th anniversary of record store day. Cracked Actor will be a 3xLP live album from a single show from a leg of Bowie’s Diamond Dogs tour in 1974.

Thrash-hop duo Ho99o9 announce their long-awaited debut album United States of Horror. The album is set to be released on May 5. Ho99o9 are soon to hit the road for an American and European tour over 3 months starting at the SXSW festival.

To mark its 30th anniversary, U2 announce an expansive 7xLP reissue of The Joshua Tree on June 2nd. The reissue will mark 3 decades since the Irish band first released it in March 1987. The commemorative edition will feature bonus tracks and a live show from New York’s Madison Square Garden. The set will also come with an 84-page hardback book of unseen photos.New Order will perform at the Manchester International Festival 2017 with a 12piece synth ensemble. The retrospective show will rework and rethink material form throughout their career. The MI festival 2017 opens on June 29 and New Order are not planned to do any other shows.
